As a part of the Henry’s exhibition Ann Hamilton: the common S E N S E, we invite you to become a reader/scribe. Read out loud in the galleries while transcribing selections of text from a project book. These joined processes of reading and transcribing are an address to the animals—represented in images and materially present in the cultural artifacts on display.
Over the duration of the exhibition, reader/scribes will form an ongoing presence that gives the often silent and solitary act of reading sociability. Although reading at different times of day and from different pages, individual reader/scribes are connected to each other through the reading and transcribing from a shared text. Each book and scribe log will accumulate the marks of individual reader/scribes to become a physical record of the collective activity. Review the READER/SCRIBE Manual for a more detailed dscription.
Current book: Death in Spring by Merce Rodoreda
