St. Luke’s is one of 17 host churches that work with Family Promise of Greater Orlando to keep families together in the face of homelessness. St. Luke’s usually hosts families right on the St. Luke's campus for a week at a time -throughout the year.

In light of the circumstances with COVID-19, Family Promise has re-located all of the families in the shelter from local congregations to a local hotel.

We need volunteers to provide dinner for these families on Sunday, May 31 through Saturday, June 6.

Prepare dinner for 12 people and deliver to:

  • Family Promise Day Center
  • 1000 Clay St.,
  • Winter Park, FL 32789

(Located on the property of Community of Christ Church and the Day Center is located in the Activity Center. Follow signs to Family Promise from the parking lot.) If you need additional assistance when you are dropping off the meal, contact Diane at 321.947.3889 or Michelle Dwyer at 407.443.9807.

Drop off time 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

If possible, if you can divide into four bags (one per family) that would be wonderful, if not, no worries at all.

These are the current families:

  • 1 mom and one 12 year old
  • Mom & Dad with three kids ranging from 1 year old - 9 years old
  • 1 mom with one 3 year old
  • 1 mom with 2 girls - (a 5 and a 6 year-old).

Unsure of what you should bring? Here are a few ideas.

Favorite Foods:

  • Pasta Dishes
  • Fried Chicken
  • BBQ Chicken
  • Macaroni & Cheese
  • Green beans, broccoli, corn
  • Pizza
  • Salad

If you would like, you may also provide a small surprise for breakfast or lunch the next day. This would have to be a small sized item, since the hotel room has limited space. Providing a surprise is not necessary, but may be done, if you would like.

Because of you, these families will have a safe place to stay and meals during this difficult time.

We currently have open spots for Family Promise Dinner and Food Donations, but If spots become full for both, please visit http://www.st.lukes.org/bagsofgrace-COVID for additional food donation opportunities.
