Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities is to reduce the burden of childhood illness on children and their families.

  • Ronald McDonald House Charities cannot cure a child, but it can alleviate the worry and expense of finding a close, comfortable and affordable place for a family to stay while their child receives the medical care they need. That can make a world of difference to a child bravely battling an illness or recovering from a serious injury.

Are you interested in volunteering with us? We are always looking for volunteers to provide the ingredients, cook, and serve a meal or snack to the families that are staying with us. We currently have snack and meal volunteer opportunities offered daily at our three House locations and The Family Room located inside Children’s Mercy Hospital. We also offer work groups on certain days if your group is interested in helping around the house.

To sign up, click the opportunity you are interested in helping with. A sign up button will be present on dates that are available each month. Once you group is signed up, regardless of the number of volunteers, no other groups can sign up for the same location.

Since families are undergoing stressful and hard time while staying with us, please note there are maximum group sizes and age restrictions. Are you struggling to decide which location might be the best fit for your group? Please see below!

Elementary groups under age 13: We have wonderful off-site opportunities that will make an impact on the daily lives of families staying at RMHC-KC. In order to maintain Ronald McDonald House's peaceful atmosphere, we ask Elementary School groups to help with volunteer opportunities that can be accomplished at your school. We will support your project by supplying instructions and a video that relays the importance of RMHC-KC's mission.

This change does not affect elementary aged kids coming alongside a family group but rather to limit the groups of all elementary-aged volunteers.

Cherry St Housemaximum of 10 adult volunteers for meals, 8 for snacks, 8 for work groups
