Role Overview
Help create a warm, accessible, and memorable camping experience for Spectrum families. Activities include pool time, archery, boating, arts & crafts, evening entertainment, meals, cabin setup, and more. As a volunteer, you'll support campers and families throughout various activities, ensuring safety, engagement, and inclusive fun.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Depending on your interests and scheduled shifts, you may help with:
Activity Support:
• Guide families during pool time, archery, canoeing, paddle boating, and climbing wall activities
• Assist with arts and crafts, family challenges, and evening movie nights
• Provide general support across activities, including setup and clean-up
Meals & Dining:
• Help serve breakfast, lunch, or dinner in the cafeteria
• Monitor seating areas for families and encourage social distancing per guidelines
• Assist with meal clean-up and resetting tables for the next meal
Cabin & Lodging:
• Help families settle into shared cabins
• Ensure each family has private space and bathroom access
• Check-in assistance on Friday and check-out support on Monday
Safety & Logistics:
• Monitor activity areas to help maintain safety
• Support transportation of materials between the main dining/activity areas and cabins
• Provide general assistance as families transition between scheduled activities
Ideal Volunteer Attributes
• Patient, caring, and comfortable interacting with neurodiverse individuals and families
• Reliable and flexible during assigned shifts
• Enjoys outdoor and group activities, including low-stress physical support
• Able to follow health, safety, and overnight staffing guidelines
• Experience with organized camps or autism-friendly programs is helpful but not required
