Spectrum’s Thanksgiving Break Mini-Camp provides a structured, supportive, and engaging environment for children and teens with autism during the school break. Volunteers will help facilitate recreational and enrichment activities, support campers in small group settings, and assist Spectrum staff in maintaining a safe and fun environment throughout the 3-day camp.

This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a meaningful setting and help create a joyful holiday experience for campers and their families.

Volunteer Tasks May Include:
• Assisting with check-in/check-out and welcoming campers
• Supporting campers during scheduled activities (crafts, games, sensory play, music, movement)
• Helping facilitate snack and lunch breaks
• Engaging campers through encouragement, patience, and redirection as needed
• Providing one-on-one or small group assistance under staff supervision
• Helping with transitions between activities and maintaining a calm environment
• Supporting clean-up and resetting spaces between sessions
• Assisting with setup and takedown of materials, tables, or equipment

Ideal Volunteer Skills & Attributes:
• Friendly, calm, and compassionate demeanor
• Comfortable working with individuals with autism or developmental differences
• Willingness to assist where needed and follow staff direction
• Able to work independently or as part of a team
• Punctual and committed to scheduled shifts
• Previous experience with youth, camps, or special needs populations is a plus, but not required

Additional Notes:
• Volunteers should wear comfortable, casual clothing and closed-toe shoes
• A brief orientation will be provided before each shift
• Lunch or snacks may be provided depending on shift duration
• Volunteers must be age 16+ or accompanied by an adult if younger (age minimum can be adjusted per your policy)
